John Hogan
John P. Hogan is an L.A. artist who recently had his first solo show, Dooley's Aztec Pizza, at 507 Rose Gallery in Venice Beach, CA. Dooley's Aztec Pizza is a drawing show which attempts to fuse Celtic, Aztec, Italian, and American art traditions within the framework of the promotional material of a fictitious Irish-Mexican-Italian-American pizza parlor. A recent graduate of the CalArts MFA program in Art, Hogan's thesis project was a 1.5 hour musical theater piece about a mythologized Florida, entitled The Island of Florida: A Foundation Myth. Hogan has shown work at Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago, Espacio Minimo in Madrid, the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, and most recently was included in Kamp K48, a group show at John Connelly Presents in New York City.
